The Digital Nomad Visa is a temporary visa that allows people who are working remotely to enter Malta temporarily for six months. This Visa can be extended up to one year by obtaining a “Nomad Residence Permit”.
To be eligible for Digital Nomad Visa Programme, applicants must satisfy these conditions:
Have a remote work contract with an overseas company or run their own business.
Offer freelance services to clients based outside the country.
Have a monthly income in excess of €2700 gross.
Have a valid travel document.
Have comprehensive medical insurance while staying in Malta.
Have proof that he holds a valid accommodation.
The application fees for the Digital Nomad Residence Permit costs €300 for the main applicant, and €300 for every additional applicant. Legal fees vary according to the complexity of the application
Applicants for the Nomad Residence Permit in Malta can send the scanned copies of all the abovementioned supporting documents to the Residency Malta Agency, along with a letter of intent, stating the desire to obtain the permit. The letter should include the duration of stay desired.
Applicants who wish to stay for less than 180 days will be granted a National Visa and a residence permit for those who will stay for up to 365 days or more.
It usually takes 30 days to process the application and obtain the visa.

The Malta Digital Nomad Residence Permit application consists of the following:
Personal Information is required such as Name, Date of Birth, Passport details, Country of Birth, Marital Status, etc.
The intended duration of stay (tentative range).
Residence history that includes current residency as well as the previous ones.
Main applicant’s address.
Residential address in Malta.
Details of spouse and dependent children (Required if applying with family).
If self-employed, you will be asked to fill in all the details about your business, including the annual income and origin country.
Contact details of the applicant.
Declaration by the applicant stating that the employment may be performed remotely irrespective of the location.
In the case of employed individuals, details about the company and the applicant’s annual income will be asked.
A declaration by the employer in the case of an employed individual is required.
I hereby declare that the information given in this application and all supporting documentation are true, correct, and up to date in every detail. I understand that if I supply false or/ incorrect and/or omitted information, my application will be refused, and my permit will be revoked.
I also confirm that I have read and fully understood the contents of the attached Form N4 - General Data Protection Regulation EU 2016/679 (GDPR) Declaration Form and declare that I consent to my personal data being processed, under the grounds and for the purpose of this application, and that I have consciously signed the said Form N4 in the appropriate section in acceptance thereof.
I understand that the Residency Malta Agency reserves the right to verify any personal information relating to me and may carry out due diligence exercises for the purpose of this application both prior to and following , the granting of such permit.
I am also aware that during such verification process, Residency Malta Agency may:
Disclose to third parties any personal information about me and/or my family members and/or dependants and
Obtain from public sources, government bodies and/or any other kind of records deemed necessary, about me and/or my family and/or my dependants
And to this effect I hereby release the Residency Malta Agency from any responsibility and/or liability.
I am aware that a national visa of not more than 180 days will be issued to successful applicants who need a visa to enter Malta. Those who wish to prolong their stay and successful applicants who do not require a visa to enter.
